My summer morning skincare must-have

Just like finding time to eat a bowl of crunchy nuts, put in your contacts, and make your bed neat and ready for bed later, my morning routine is part of my morning prep routine.

It prepares me for the day’s work; On days when I don’t have time to put on full makeup, or after a long night, taking a few minutes to wash my face and apply some lotion and potions, this little ritual really seems to make me feel human again (yes, I said lotion and potions – I’m 90 years old).

Anyway, just like makeup, when the weather changes and the temperature rises, my skin care products change slightly; Give way to products that give me a little glow, a little better sun protection (make sure it has SPF, though, kids), and give my face more water when it’s a little dehydrated. So! I wanted to share with you some of the products I’ve been using over the past few months that have become a complete must-have for my summer skincare routine……

Cleanser: BeautyPie Plant-based Almond Butter Cleanser

Not only does this cleanser smell like a summer breakfast in the garden and a little apricot dessert, but it’s without a doubt my favorite cleanser in the morning and at night. It completely removes all grime (including stubborn eye makeup) and leaves my skin silky smooth, without any greasy feeling. It’s the perfect primer for quick, refreshing skin, and the fragrance complements it.

Spray Elizabeth Arden 8-hour Moisturizing Facial Spray

This feels like one of my more “luxury” beauty products, but after cleansing, it hydrates and refreshes my face before I apply serum (I’m no expert, but apparently a serum/moisturizer on slightly wet skin would be better?). But the point is! It’s also great to keep in your bag all day, adding extra moisture and glow to your skin when it might be starting to dry out, and it’s very lightweight to use without making you look wet or sweaty, which is very pleasant indeed.

Vitamin Nectar Fresh /Typology Acide Hyaluronique & Vitamin C

Both of these serums, Fresh and Typology, have been tested to make skin glow. Fresh, inspired by “cold pressed juices” (really, stop saying that), energizes and hydrates skin, while Typology’s Acide Hyaluronique also makes skin more hydrated and silky (I also really like their Vitamin C serum, which adds shine, I alternate it with the Fresh essence).

Moisturizer: Weleda Skin Food Light/Sunday Riley C.E.O Vitamin C Rich Moisturizer

At the moment, the two moisturizers I rotate are Weleda Skin Food Light (I have a soft spot for their “rich” version, but this is a good choice when the weather is hot and you need something that doesn’t feel too heavy), And Sunday Riley’s C.E.O Vitamin C Rich Moisturizer, which is absolutely ideal for hydrating, brightening and adding a noticeable glow, which is always a top priority for me.

Sunscreen: Elemis Daily Defense Shield SPF 30

Ah, the dream SPF! This is the cherry on the cake of all skincare products – and this product is the perfect finish to any skincare routine. It’s not too thick, absorbs very quickly (which makes applying makeup on it a breeze), and doesn’t feel any greasy. As much as I love the feel (and taste) of stuffy, sunny cream on holiday, this product feels a hundred times lighter, making applying SPF while applying makeup as easy as brushing your teeth, so there’s no need to forget friends.
